What Drives Us
What we’re about
Just a bit about us/our dogs/our program. We are a small group of dog fanciers from Alaska to Arizona and places in between that work closely together to produce stellar dogs. We are based out of Alaska, but we have a home in Arizona we spend part of the year in.
We show our dogs and have multiple American Championship titled dogs and a couple of International Champions.
We show, breed and attend canine sports with our UKC/ABKC/USBR registered American Bullies. We have recently added French Bulldogs as well. The focus of our program, though, is the American Bullies. We must create dogs with excellent health, temper, and structure. Things in which we have seen a decline among many breeds over the last few decades.
Our dogs are family first! We enrich our dogs’ lives with various activities and things they like to do. Some love to chase and play with the water hose, others love to play fetch, and some want to run at top speed on the rugged dirt roads or chase a flirt pole. We utilize weighted vests, drag bags, and resistance parachutes to round out our active dogs’ conditioning and exercise needs. Hiking is something we do pretty often too. Not a walk around the block either! We are in the mountains at high altitudes, hiking hard from a quick 4-hour hike to all day, always with dogs. To be a companion means they need to be able to accompany us in all of our endeavors. The American Bully is genuinely a companion breed. Happy to chill at home by the fire on a cold winter night or go for a hike in rough terrain in the summer in Arizona.
We do not breed often, but every pairing is planned out well in advance when we do. Many studies go into breeding—research into pedigrees for genotype and phenotypic compatibility of the parents. We consider health and temperament at the top of the list in any pairing. We breed to the breed standard. Many of our dogs are health tested (actual certifications from Pennhip and or OFA for hips, Embark genetic screening for 200+ genetic diseases and disorders that are becoming too common due to negligence or not well-planned breeding.)
We start pups out with ENS (early neurological stimulation) at three days old. Then, we raise them in an enriched family environment for the first 2+ months. This ensures that they start with great tempers and can go into new families miles ahead of pups raised in a pen/kiddy pool. They are exposed to chickens, children, and other dogs early on.
Our goal is excellent tempers, show-quality looks, and a traffic-stopping presence in all of our dogs and pups. We take our lifestyle seriously and have invested decades in our program, thousands of miles of travel for events, and thousands of hours of studying. I don’t want to admit that we have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on our passion.
I wouldn’t have it any other way, though!
Our dogs are not “expensive”; they are truly priceless.
To have such willing companions with rock-solid tempers, excellent health, and stunning good looks are worth the world to those that appreciate rare qualities.
